How does the aluminum plate affect the amount of noise the brown keys make? I bought the EagleTec KG010 (also has an aluminum plate) and had to return it because it was irritatingly loud to type on.

EarllThe aluminium plate has no effect. Depending on the type of switch, the keys won't even reach the plate. The brown switches are just more silent, when klicking. You still have the haptic feedback but a silent click, while blue switches have a loud click. Maybe you ordered a keyboard with loud switches or you just hammered the keys, just like I sometimes do when typing fast. It could also have been that your keyboard was defect or just badly manufactured.
