Ball Engineer III Bronze Automatic Watch

Got my watch and the Tritium on the second hand doesn't work. please see attached images of my 2+ year old Ball Genesis (w working second hand Trit) on the the left and the brand new Bronze Engineer III on the right. Original lume pic from the ad is also included for comparison. Is anyone else having this issue? When I raised to ask how they wanted to handle the return, David at Massdrop support suggested I bring it to a local repair shop and have them deal with it; when I get the watch back after however long and pay out of pocket, then Massdrop can reimburse me to honor their warranty.
