I like how in the drop list, the price for these shows up as "$425 $425" :P
The Malvern on the Barker Shoes UK store seems to only be £225 (~$300 USD though with import/shipping considerations -- still seems a lot cheaper at first blush) or on the US store... $425 too, huh? Guess that explains the MSRP. So, with a ship date of ~mid June, what exactly is the point of getting these through "Drop" rather than from the manufacturer website?
(Is that just the base price, and it'll display as lower once enough people join for the drop to actually happen? I feel like on the old website design it was much more obvious when that was the case, so maybe I'm just missing something.)
kevinhbHi Kevin! Thanks for your interest on this event. The pricing for the international market and anywhere outside the UK is indeed $425. However, through our exclusive partnership with Barker UK we're offering a ton of freebies to go along your shoes (from a complete shoe kit to shoe trees), that's where the value for this event comes into place.
The shipping time is partly to allocate for the shipping from the factory to us, and also because some sizes are going to be made to order for us (when the vendor doesn't have stock available).
TomasVAh, I didn't quite look close enough at the drop details, that does make sense. Thanks.
The apparent "$0 discount" displayed on the drop list is still pretty funny though!
I don’t have these particular shoes, but I have a pair of their boots I’ve been very happy with. The standard is not quite up to makers like Carmina, but this seems like a decent enough deal if you want the shoe care kit, trees, etc.
tegeus-CromisI have two pairs of Barker boots, while the build quality is fine for th price I am not impressed with the leather. It is corrected grain and very stiff. I have Barker Caldera and Hopper. The hopper has the better upper leather but still seems to wrinkle too easily. he finish is starting to wear in the heel area and toes. The Cladera has very stiff unforgiving leather that after two years is still overly stiff. Also the heels started coming apart only after a few wears.
