One of my local gun shops sells this exact package for $200 out the door. Just a heads up on that. Shop around if you're into this.

I'm an effete urbanite who isn't allowed near weapons. I'm not gonna buy this but out of curiosity what are they meant for? Can you kill animals with this or are they just for shooting beer cans off the fence post? Surely no one uses them for "self defense"?
I wonder how different my hobbies would be if I didn't live in a city.

Is there a hierarchy or pecking order among hunters? Like, are cross bow hunters considered more or less "real hunters" than say, the shooty gun types, or the ones that use the big normal bows?

sockpuppyI don't think there is a heirarchy per-se, bow hunting in general is regarded as needing more skill because you have to be closer to the animal for an accurately placed shot.
I think most hunters looking to put high quality meat in their freezers are going to do a few different firearm seasons to extend the hunt and their chance of harvesting a deer since seasons are usually back-to-back. Bow hunting, then rifle followed by crossbow/muzzleloader, at least in my part of the state.

Boy, my 12 year old self would be drooling all over this.
My current self is very tempted, but my wife would be totally freaked out by such a thing. It would be very awkward.
Very cool, though!

wintermuttIt looks like it, but doesn't include the soft sided case, which is $49.99 on Barnetts website. I see the same price on Amazon Prime. But no case.

Even if shipping wasn't restricted to the US, despite that fact that I can buy a .50BMG, crossbows are completely prohibited in NSW Australia. God our laws are stupid.
