The point is, this has been a flourishing outdoor gear community that has been hijacked by the defunct knife community. I have not opted for any knife community; I opted for solely the outdoor gear option. Drop daily mailouts for this option now consist almost entirely of knives, none of which can even be purchased by international members (as they are considered weapons), electronic gear, yet more headphones or ear phones, and if we are lucky, one or perhaps two items that might be considered as outdoor gear.
I also object to the selling of what might be considered as weapons on Drop. Surely there is enough violence in the world without further contributing to it?
rmeurantI like knives and watches. I haven't bought any from here. I wouldn't gamble trying to import a knife anymore, but I would buy a watch if it was good. This site generally reminds me of "reader's digest"; most of what is here is really not good. It's like stuff that nobody else would buy. I have heard that drop used to be much better. There are some gems though; this knife is one of them. I did buy a very good light weight waterproof jacket - the rab kinetic. Highly recommend it. Spent a whole day in our high country while it was raining the whole time. This site is what it is. There are other options and often better deals. I still look here, but I'm mostly disappointed.
KizerYes, it seems to have deteriorated after Danny left - he knew what he was doing - though there was a good run of various Altra shoes earlier in the year.
Oh, I want this. It's so expensive here in aus. But, getting it through customs is a gamble. We can buy all sorts of flippers within Aus, but border security is hit and miss. The written guide they abide by is obscure and largely open to interpretation, so there isn't much comeback. It kind of looks like Canada has similar trouble, according to Canadian Cutting Edge. Yes, it looks very similar to what we have.
Looks a great knife though - I've been eyeballing it for a while.
Could we please have less knives, and more actually useful real ultralite hiking & camping gear? What has happened to Drop? Knife after knife after knife after knife after knife - one is quite enough thanks, and they don't even ship internationally. Can we please return to gear that is actually relevant to ultralite? Zpacks, HMG, MLD, Evernew, ... Packs, stoves, quilts, headlamps, parkas, ...
This one still does absolutely nothing for me. (I can't help but see this as a glorified, expensive box cutter.) But, if it is calling your name, by all means do it, if your sweetie won't kill you when she finds out. I have about half a dozen Bestech and they are all great. I looked at several different knife buying sites, including my regulars, and this is about $30 cheaper than elsewhere except one that had this listed at $142.
14themoneyIt looks very nice (design and build quality) but it's about 1.5 - 2 inches too small for my own personal use.
Bestech and Artisan seem to do a good job making their drops financially appealing from what I've seen.
