I am very happy with the Bestech Swordfish Natural G10 knife. The fit and finish is excellent along with the action of the knife. The blade has no play in the locked position. The blade is centered when in the folded position. I would buy this knife again.
I'm not a knife-geek, but as a guy who was raised in the country, I was as likely to leave the house without shoes on as I was without a pocket knife. A knife is a tool but at the same time I appreciate good design. But even more than that, I appreciate quality in materials and construction and most of all value.
This is a very well made knife. The blade, when folded sits perfectly centered and when opened and locked their is not a bit of movement. The natural G10 is a very attractive material that looks almost like jade. My example had absolutely no gap between the black and natural scale pieces. I've seen pictures of examples that had small gaps so the people that make these knives are getting better at it it seems.
I've bought a lot of knives in my life and this is one of the priciest but sadly it was also one of the dullest from the box hence the loss of a star. Five minutes on a Shapton ceramic 2000# gave me a pretty nice edge so D2 steel seems to sharpen easily. This is my first D2 knife, so I can't speak to it's edge retention but the information I found on it tells me it's a very good knife material in terms of stain resistance, hardness and durability. A hardness of 61 is quite hard for a pocket knife, which should be fine for simply cutting things, but don't try prying open stuck paint can lids with it.
Once properly sharpened I cannot find a single thing to complain about. The design, materials, construction all scream "incredible value" when you put all that on the other side of the equals sign from the price.
A little big/heavy for daily carry, show side the G-10 matches up flawlessly, backside it matches up good but the black is a little high on the corners, blade is centered. Hey it looks good.
Don't like this knife at all. Much better things in this price point (mainly CJRB). The handle feels super cheap and too long. Don't like the feel of the action either.
It’s a larger but still easy and comfortable knife. I love the handle contrast between the black and natural (jade) g10. For someone who has slightly larger than average hands it easily fits and feels great whilst using it. Glad I bought it and would tell anyone who’s thinking about it and likes the looks to go ahead and try it out.
Tikka7mm08Update: ran blade over my Spyderco sharpener with diamond through to ultrafine rods... D2 steel takes a great edge and this knife is very sharp now.
