This is actually one of my favorite board games, if you haven't played it before I would highly recommend it. I've played this with friends 10-15 times in the past few months and we've not yet had the same ending, and finding a game we could play repeatedly without it feeling repetitive was definitely tricky to find.
Highly, highly recommend this game.

If you buy both the game and expansion from Coolstuff or Amazon the cost (in the us) is 54 or 50 respectively. This drop does not look that great in that aspect.

$39.75 shipping to Australia... I would spend so much money on this site if the shipping to AU was cheaper! :(

Finally get a chance to get this drop. Really excited bout this game. Can't get this through amazon as the shipping to my country is near 100usd. I got a cheaper deal here so another alternative for me.
I usually check and compare the price including shipping to my country from other sites like coolstuff, funagain, amazon etc. Whichever is a better deal ill go for that. In this instance massdrop is cheaper alternative for me for this game.

Absolutely my all time favorite game. I was thrilled when we could give our original copy a rest and see if they improved a few glitches in the game, like the lake on the second level of the house. We play it weekly, and the only issue is the character cards and their hit points. Those arrows slide a little too easily, so we just use the old character cards. Other than that, everything is fantastic.
Note: I did not purchase Widow's Walk. We watched through a play through, and it's like a different game entirely. A little research revealed that it was game tested and design by folks who never played Betrayal. Suddenly it made a lot more sense.
If if you love games where it starts out coop, then can change, you build a map as you go to introduce novelty and randomness, and it's quite a challenge, Dark Souls the board game is more similar to Betrayal that Widow's Walk.
That said, on a desert island, one game? Betrayal, hands down.

If you're Canadian, skip this and check out Amazon.ca. Cheaper for both and Prime shipping.

Patapouf26Even if you are US, Amazon is still a better deal. I've been noticing this a lot with things that aren't Massdrop exclusives.

I was about to pull the trigger on this, and then checked Amazon. $1 difference in price to get it this week? Played this game once at ComiCon and it was amazing; can't wait to see how different games play out. Enjoy, those who are in on the drop!

is the reprint 2nd edition really as bad as everyone says? that the tiles are much thinner stock and are prone to warping? is it worth it to pay a premium and try to find a used Avalon Hill 1st edition copy?
will WOTC/hasbro ever print a 3rd edition and fix some of the issues of the 2nd?
on fence...
thanks

jpluscDid anyone ever respond? I have a very battered old first edition and jumped on the chance to get the re release. I would say the second edition is similar build quality with the exception of the character tiles. The arrows that match with the traits move around a bit to much, so we use the old character tiles. Everything else, including the tiles with the house, are equivalent to the original (and I've had to clean beverages off both!). They also fixed the problem of the lake being on the second level.
We we did NOT purchase the expansion. Sadly, it was developed by game testers who have never played the first game before, so it's gotten crappy reviews. The original offers infinite varieties, why bother with a subpar game? We literally play it every week for the past 3 years and have yet to replay the same scenario.

Just wanted to stop by and say that this game is outstanding and if you're on the fence about it you should get it. Great game. Infinite replayability.
