What a joke, everything is sold out. I have less and less of a good impression of Massdrop.

I pulled the trigger on a Purple Passion, but had to settle for a fine nib when I wanted medium. If Bexley is making these up special for Massdrop, it's hard to understand why nib sizes have to sell out (especially since the grip section is black and not patterned--grip sections should be swappable). I see I can get Bexley nib units separately and I may have to do that if I don't like the fine nib, but that will add significantly to the price of the pen. Bexley is a great brand and I'm pleased to see it offered on Massdrop.

If this is your first foray in to fountain pens, you've made a good choice Anyone sitting on the fence about these pens should not hesitate--they're real fountain pens made by real fountain pen people--good materials, good nib.

Is the Bronze Pearl more orange or more brown?

dmerleI have a bronze pearl pen of theirs, a few years old, and mine is not brown but definitely orange - not a bright orange but an amberish dark orange with lighter, almost yellowish mottling, and a good amount of chatoyance, very similar to the photograph here. It's a very pretty acrylic.

Anyone have any idea what shipping to Germany would cost? I have just joined Massdrop, so not sure if there is a way of getting the shipping cost before joining a drop.

Can we get these with a gold nib? I would be fine paying an extra $80 or so to have that. Also, how are these different from Edison Pens? I have an Edison Collier (Steel blue) that I really like.

Is this pen worth the cost? I'm always wary of steel nib pens that are over $100 unless I know the brand is well made. I do like JoWo nibs that are used by other pen companies. It is an attractive pen.

TheryonI don't have this specific pen, but I own a Bexley Demeter. Looks to be the same nib. I went to my local fountain pen store expecting to buy a pilot custom 74 and liked the writing experience better on the Bexley. It certainly isn't as springy as a gold nib, but it was perfectly tuned right out of the box, and it is actually a rather large nib (easily 1.5x the length of my Kaweco Sport nib) and that gives it some nice bounce, especially compared to pens like my Lamy Al-Star, or Twsbi Eco.

Here's an interesting question/observation. Bexley pens appreciate in value over time, because they are so well made, etc. Since this pen is a Massdrop Exclusive, it will never hit the open market, and thus will never be in play alongside other Bexley pens. True, it is a Bexley, and so will have all the craftsmanship of Bexley pens, but since it is an exclusive, I wonder what the value of these pens will be ten or twenty years down the road.
