What nibs might be available? A left-cut (which is for right-handers) cursive italic medium nib would have me in the drop. Bexley makes an excellent pen but unlike Pelikan which offers factory cut nibs, a Bexley has to be sent out for nib work. I hope this changes.

Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 6/1. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.
Sometimes shipments get delayed en route, not to worry as we will keep the group posted throughout the process and notify you all if anything causes delay.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 6/2 or sooner if something comes up.

Quick update for the group. We are in contact with the vendor and awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We have a call scheduled first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect these in our warehouse. We will update the group as soon as these are on the way.
Currently we expect that these will be in our warehouse inline with the expected ship date listed in the drop description page.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 5/28 or sooner if something comes up.

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Bexley Phoenix Fountain Pen and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 5/29.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 5/26.

I think the only problem is that this is the normal price for this pen on retail websites. There isn't any additional discount for direct buy via Massdrop. I suppose you get free shipping....

Glassjaw003True, it is around $170 on retail website. This is a 'tax free and free shipping' discount.

The blue one is calling my name, but problem is I had just committed a substantial amount on pens for this month. And the fact that my local currency is tanking against the USD is certainly not helping matters LOL.
But I'd have to say this - Bexley's piston fillers are top-notch, and on par with the best from Pelikan. And certainly smoother than any Omas'. I have a Corona and Poseidon Magnum II, and if you haven't owned a Bexley piston-filler yet, please get in on this drop since the final drop price would only get you a cartridge-converter pen from another comparable manufacturer.
ShahrinCamille@cbaldwin @ShahrinCamille,
Glad to hear you've had good experiences with Bexley, thanks for sharing some great info here. I just spent some time with the Bexley team at the Triangle Pen Show, and they're incredibly nice and impressively dedicated to this work. They've spend a great deal of time and effort on the design and machining of the piston filler mechanism, so they will be pleased to know it's appreciated.

Bexley makes great pens with great customer service. Their prices are competitive with other pens like Edisons. This particular is an internal Piston filler, not a converter. I own several Bexleys and they are in my daily rotation. And FYI: Their customer service is amazing.

I don't own a Bexley Fountain pen, but I do own a Bexley boxed edition clutch pencil I received as a gift several years ago - it came with pencil leads, highlighter leads, and ballpoint pen refills. The acylic used for the pencil body has beautiful deep colors and is perfectly finished and smooth, still looks and works great. The clutch mechanism is smooth and works flawlessly. Unfortunately, today there is a premium to be paid if you want to purchase products made and/or assembled in the USA. Look at Edison pens, for example, their Production Line pens have steel nibs and run for $149. A similar price to the "best" price O'Dea this drop.

because Bexley are overpriced
NorrisBHey again @NorrisB and @Pantsu_Bear,
I think it's true that many fountain pens in this price range have gold nibs, and that a great many fountain pens with steel nibs can be found at lower prices, including some demonstrators and some piston-fillers.
I also think that everyone is 100% entitled to their own assessment of value/worth of any product, and we really want Massdrop to be a place where members continue to share these kind of opinions - both for the benefit of other members considering whether to participate, and to better inform us as buyers when we're looking at new brands to make available here.
FWIW, here is Bexley's "About Us" page: http://www.bexleypen.com/category-s/1825.htm
The only thing I noticed on this pen that was not specifically featured in the photos or description is that the pens are assembled and polished by hand, and that the piston itself is metal (brass, I think), as opposed to plastic. I've included photos below of the Red.
Value can be subjectively and/or objectively critiqued, and many people may agree with you - I'm not making a judgement here about that, but I wanted you to know that your feedback is heard and try to provide the best information I can about the pen and why Bexley sets the prices as they do.
I hope that is helpful. As always, feedback is welcome. Have a great weekend, y'all!

NorrisBThey're limited production, good quality, made in the US, and they offer a lifetime warranty. I prefer to pay a bit more and know I'm getting something good - and know that I'm supporting local workers.
