The Custom One Pro Plus is the newest iteration of the popular Custom One Pro headphone from Beyerdynamic. Like the original Custom One Pro, it offers a sleek custom sound slider that allows for adjustable bass levels and sound patterns Read More
Just want to tell you guys that buying the EDT770VB or EDT770V velour earpads are a must. The stock material gets warm and disgusting and the threading will fall apart after a six months or so. The EQ sliders are somewhat useless and gimmicky but the drivers are great, build quality is pretty solid (very similar to any other Beyer or even HyperX Cloud headset). What I like the most is the removable and swappable 3.5mm jack that allows me to use one of the 2 supplied cables: phone length with mic and controller. longer with 1/4 inch jack threaded 3.5mm male; or my Vmoda boompro mic which converts it into a pretty nice quality stereo pc headset. I will mention that the 3.5mm female built into the COP has somewhat of a proprietary shape in the plastic molding on their cables. Its somewhat of a cut out notch that locks the cable into one place. Most 3rd party aux cables will work but I have noticed when the cable swivels the audio quality can degrade on and off. Beyer does sell a headset mic connected to 3.5 but costs around $60. I find the low impedance to be nice for using on pretty much any device. I have a 600ohm soundcard because my onboard died but find 16ohm to be more than enough.
Other than all that I have had to repair it and did so while under its warranty date. My right ear went out one day and I emailed Beyer, waited a couple of hours for an email and got impatient. Took the headphones apart carefully and found a small stray hair on the headphones membrane. I told the customer support guy about my repair and sent pictures, they said I should have sent it in but they will not terminate my warranty.
Overall I'd say this is a good deal. Actually, I just noticed this was bundled with the premium mic and cost half the price I paid a year and a half ago? Next time this is up I may restock. The COP is a totally customizable and easily serviceable pair of cans. Light as a feather with the velour pads too.
I own a pair of the Custom One Pro headphones, I paid well over $150 just for the headphones and one standard cord... The fact that you get all the added stuff with this pair is insane and almost makes me jealous. I really enjoy the way you can move the bass selectors on the bottom of the earcups and "tune" the headphones to your liking. I use them all the time (almost as much as my modified Fostex T50RPs).
They aren't 600ohm, I'll tell you that. 16ohm but they sound great. Would make a good PC, or maybe even console headset; or a good cell phone or mp3 player pair of cans. Unless your phone boasts a nice dac.
A cautionary tale for you folks with hat sizes over 7-5/8....
I wished BD headphones fit my giant head. Ive always loved their simple design. I had a set of 990s and they looked ridiculous on my massive noggin, and pinch like hell after just a few minutes. So sad, they were quite pleasant. IMHO, Not as good a the K7XX's and many others, but still nice for music.
eneroYou probably love the k7xx! It's always felt a little too loose for me (I tell people you definitely can't headbang with them on), but if you've had a history of regular headphones pinching, k7xx sounds perfect. I love how open they are too. Too bad I gave mine to a friend in a different state :(. I like the industrial look and ability to change the frequency response of these headphones to your subjective taste. Sad to hear about the possible pinching issue. Maybe I could turn these into a mod pair if they pinch my head too, I don't have a big head but I have really big ears :).
wontonotnowBig ear will be fine, at least the 990's were, they have a big opening for your ears, I think these One Pros are a bit smaller. But still pretty big. And YES! I Love my K7XX. They fit perfect and feel great. I use them mainly for Gaming, which arent as good as my old ATH AD500's but they will do. Way better quality if nothing else :)
kiddIt's an in-line mic on the cable. You get one standard cable with 1/8 and 1/4 inch jack adapter, and the plus addition includes an extra cable with 1/8 inch mobile jack with inline mic. Definitely works on Android devices, haven't tried with iPhone. Fantastic headphones regardless.
If you need a proper mic for something like PC gaming, get the massdrop minimic or something!
I own these headphones for 4 years. The only down side is the cable and cushions. Just replace them with better braded cable and velour pads! They will serve you a long time. COP's got a very nice and deep bass. Im using mine with dac plus amp, they even sound better. About durability they are well built and sturdy. I had mine fell couple times from a table, that got them little scratch so nothing once broke. I can recommend them for those who are looking for something like DT series with more deep bass.
