I would start with researching inherent design differences between full size over-ear open backed headphone (HD598) and portable on-ear closed back headphones (DT1350).

xAkMoRRoWiNdxExtremely colored and base heavy. The HD598 is open and bright, very happy and energetic (i.e. treble forward). These curve towards the low frequency spectrum. The HD598 is open so it has a very wide soundstage, the music envelops you and feels alive around you. The DT 1350, by nature of its design, is much like an IEM, injecting the music inside of you. It feels like people are playing it right next to you. It is a matter of taste. I have them, they are great for the office.

I'm looking to retire the DT 1350 because I like my music bright, lively and all around. Unfortunately that is insanely rare in closed headphones since most good manufacturers target DJs, monitoring sound engineers and bass heads with closed headphones.
