I bought these on Drop for $450 about a year ago. Definitely had buyer's remorse. Bass response and SPL was nowhere near what I wanted. Spent $800 on planar magnetic headphones (balanced cable), and a much better amp. Now music is exciting to listen to. If you want casual listening and reference listening then these are for you. If you want exciting, loud music, save your money for something better.
OrionXavierYou need to use the correct pads to get good bass response. If you put on the "analytical" ones then you get zero bass. With the "balanced" pads the bass response is quite good....not Beats level of booming but it's definitely not lacking.
They're also open back so the bass is going to be (correctly) tighter and not so boomy.
AnonymousMassI spent $80 on Dekoni Elite hybrid ear pads. They definitely boosted the bass so it was more fuller sounding. But with the music around 90-100 dB (and the bass volume MUCH less than that), the drivers would start "complaining" by making a rattling sound. Sort of like the sound you get from a typical 3.5" midrange speaker when you don't run a crossover with it, and try to play midbass through it.
AnonymousMassI agree with this comment.
I love these cans - have the most bass of any open backs I own and it is tight and clear.
Maybe the OP got a bad set or he/she LOVES bass - either way, I think they are misrepresenting these cans and what they do.
OrionXavieri just bought the schiit loki eq and upped the bass a little and lowered the treble. now they sound even more amazing and i didnt have to spend a ton extra. also got the dekoni elite sheep skin pads, the hybrids made the bass really muddy so i returned those. the elite sheep skin with the holes is way better.
