Received my 80 ohm DT-770 from Amazon today. It was much cheaper than Drop's offer and was delivered to me overnight free (Prime). After 2 hour break-in, I tested it against my usual test tracks. I think I just got my perfect office cans! Mids are similar to my HD600 without the shouty upper mids of the Senn. Mid-bass is fast and tight, unlike the flabby and slow mid-bass of my HD6XX. Mid-bass is faster on DT-770 than the HD600. Bass digs deeper and more nuanced than both Senns. Vocals are not recessed like the M1060, but not buttery smooth like HD6XX. Highs are crisp but not as nuanced as the HD600 or my AKG K702 Pro. The K702 extends higher and has more sparkle than the DT-770. DT-770's highs are strident up at around 8KHz, but not sibilant. Stacey Kent was not sibilant while singing So Nice over DT-770 (but was sibilant over my B&W 705s2 speakers). I chose the 80 ohm version upon reading/watching reviews which stated that the 80 ohm is the least strident among the three variants. One other thing, this DT-770 has wider soundstage than the HD600. Unbelievable for closed back. But it doesn't image as well as the HD600 which has pinpoint accuracy across its soundstage. The DT-770 is better with EDM/Metal/Rock than both Senns.
