I have no need for these. Yet I want them. I think just because they're "classics"? Am I crazy? Should anyone talk me out of this?

TinkerTomDepends how badly you need/want closed backs. I have a plethora of quality open headphones, but these would be a considerable upgrade over my closed Audiotechnicas. The main thing I know about DT770s is they have excellent soundstage for a closed pair. I wouldn't get them unless you need quality isolation, don't have privacy or have cash to burn. ;) Price with Cdn exchange (for me) is rather good.

devolutionaryI keep imagining them being nice late-night gaming headphones. The 32 ohm.

devolutionaryi didn't think these had great isolation - maybe it's just my pair. it could be the ear pads though. i also felt they needed more clamping force.

BuckNekkidWhich version did you purchase? I think the Premiums offer 'slightly' better overall isolation but the Pros have better soundstage. I also prefer their heavier clamp for longer listening sessions (~personal preference). Velour pads would definitely play a factor.

devolutionary250 Ohm - i also have the pro version of the 880 pro - the clamp force is better on those and i feel like the velour is more plush than the 770 pro limited edition with the black velour. i've never listened to the premium versions before. i also expected it to be warmer out of the box but it feels like the 880s are warmer but i have had the 880 for longer.
