pokootTo play off a headphone output, you need the 32 ohm version. 250 ohm is for studio equipment and powerful headphone amplifiers. It will play loud enough on your Mac but won't sound its best. It will sound its worst. If you get the 250 ohm version, you defeat its purpose. There's a reason why the 32 ohm version exists, and it's for using it with low-power consumer equipment. God bless! 😃

raansire7Thanks for you reply @raansire7 - I do currently own a audio interface . Hopefully this can power the 250 ohm. I own the Rode AI-1. I do own about 4 computers at home, but I only have 1 dac/audio interface. I wonder how does the 250 ohm sound plugged directly to the Mac Laptop.

pokootYou're welcome, buddy. But "listen"...you need GOOD POWER if you want to be amazed by them. If not, they will be underwhelming. I own the DT 990 PRO and the more sensitive T90. They're both 250 ohm and get plenty loud on the iPhone 8 Plus, iPad Pro, Colorfly C3 and LG V10...and even on my LG G3. Plenty loud. That's about it. Loudness doesn't translate to aural pleasure. The T90 are less picky because of the Tesla drivers, but the older 250 ohm DT series Beyers NEED power to sound good. If not, they sound torturously bright and brittle, the mids sound distant, and the bass sounds weak. Hooked up to my Asgard 2, even on low gain the DT 990 PRO come alive and sound awesome, like a different pair of headphones. On low power, they will get loud enough to bother your ears, and will sound "good" in the grand scheme of things, but chances are your brain will notice something off about the sound and you will not feel reward. Get yourself a headphone amp and a DAC. It's not an option, buddy. Interfaces do not have quality headphone amps. They're decent, but not ground-breaking. You don't have to break the bank. A Schiit Audio Modi 3 DAC and a Magni 3 amp will cost you $198 combined and you will be able to power basically any headphones, and it will sound fantastic to your ears.
