I'm not much of an audiophile. I appreciate good audio quality, and I've been working my way up through different price tiers of headphones, focusing on things people say are good for their price point. And this is both the best sounding and most expensive purchase I've made. It's also probably the end of my journey, as I can't justify spending much more on a set of headphones.
My only two gripes are that it needs amplification, my research indicated it would probably be fine, but any source I have outputs just enough to get it to a good listening volume if I max it out. My other gripe is the cord it's too long for my use and not very friendly to my preferred methods of dealing with long cables - but that's a largely preferential issue.
I’m no audiophile, but these are comfortable, nice length cable (too long for my usage though). Good sound, but not as good as the 58x I recently bought through Drop.
Sounds great overall. Perfect closed-back headphones.
Perfect for listening instrumental music, classical music, techno, old rock, anime covers, and play first person shooter games. Warning, it has a bulky cable. Easy to clean.
Sound: Frequency response is almost flat with very less coloration. Bass is fast, tight and slightly boomy. Treble is not too piercing/sibilant. Mid range is satisfyingly sufficient and not too chesty. less wide closed back soundstage. Imaging was not too accurate. Less resolving when directly compared to HE4XX. Otherwise, I think I could hear every little detail clumped together.
Build & comfort: Well built, velour pads with hard foam, lightweight with strong clamping force. Make sure to align the pads parallel to head, otherwise, end up with a little discomfort after sometime.
Pros: Closed back, neutral sound with no coloration, build quality, lightweight, velour pads, clamps and seals to not leak sound, one sided cable (attached to left), works on smartphones, best for noisy environments.
Cons: Non removable/replaceable cable, clamping force could hurt (ONLY if not properly aligned while wearing), does not scale as much with amps, not as airy as open back.
Great sound. Need a headphone Amp. I'm using a mini USB DAC by NuForce which works fine
It would be nice to include a carrying case for this headphones.
A detachable cable would be a great plus.
You can find replacement pads and headband cushion on e-bay.
I needed an affordable set of headphones for my home recording set up. I was recommended the Beyer DT 770 as they are excellent in the mid range. They are as expected.
