Yea how come this is so expensive for a "Mass Drop". Is it because it's special edition all black?! It's a ridiculous 220$ + 24$ Shipping to Canada while I can get it here for the same price but in CAD instead of USD so 35% less expensive, and free shipping... so much scam on this website.

NO! They are litterally the same on newegg, they are the all-black edition. Such non-sense...

No, these are actually not the same exact headphones that are selling for $200 on Newegg; this has been covered ad nauseum in older posts on this discussion thread. Not trying to be pedantic, and cribbing some of what's been written before, but the blacked-out "limited edition" version selling for $200 has a different headband (microfiber like on the Tesla T70/T90 series as opposed to the standard leatherette on the DT series) and there aren't model badges on the earcups. As far as I can tell, the exact model being offered here on Massdrop isn't available from other vendors. Granted, the electronics and build quality are going to be the same, but the "Premium DT880 250-ohm" model with its regular accoutrements (headband, badging, cabling, etc.) is the most sought after version and vendors charge more for it than the others (~ $250 and up).
I have no skin in the game, and if you can find a better price on a set that makes you happy you should go for it, just pointing out that it is not the same exact model. Cheers!

The only other place you can buy this model is from the Beyer website. It will run you a little over $400 USD plus S/H if you want this model from there.
If you are able to compromise, you can get the regular Premium, the 250ohm only blackout amazon/ebay edition, or the Pro models.
This is about as tricked out of a DT model as you can get. Soft touch parts, leather headband, Premium edition features, no ugly DT Premium Color scheme, availiable in 600ohm

Very small nitpick, these have the leather headband found only on DT Manufaktur models. Not the far more common leatherette. Its definitely a different material than all my other stock DT headbands.
And I didn't know even several plastic pieces were "soft touch" coated till I got them.
It doesn't state either of those details on the product page, so I wouldn't expect you to be aware of these minute differences.

Thanks for the additional information, not a nitpick at all. Actually, your comments further cement the fact that what's being offered here on Massdrop isn't quite the same as less expensive versions of the DT880 being sold elsewhere. Cheers!

I just wish your comment gets pinned at the top. Getting sick and tired of morons here not doing their actual research on why these are much more expensive than the retail counterparts.
But I also put a blame on MD for misleading users with a title that doesn't reflect on what is actually been sold. If they indicated that these are the "Manufaktur" models it could clear up the confusion around here.
And this goes the same to the DT990 drop. They're also selling the Manufaktur Editions too.
