derbagger22Thanks for pointing that out. Never owned a Beyerdynamic before so I wouldn't know. I'd really prefer detachable cables though simply because they can be replaced when broken.
derbagger22The 770/880/990 models were their premium/pro lines from a previous generation. Due to popularity they continue to sell these models at a more affordable price. While attached cables are a very old school mentality, Beyer are known for high quality construction and QA since these are only made in Germany. For detached cables, consider their newest, priciest models like DT 1770, 1990, Amiron, T5P, etc.
WarisDino is right lmao.
Also these headphones are EXTREMELY easy to make detachable. When you open up the left side and cut the cable, it pops straight out leaving you with a square hole you can squeeze a 2.5mm in and seal the square corners, or use a dremel to make it a circle for a 3.5 (recommended).
15 minutes of work max.
derbagger22Not true...several more-expensive BD models have detachable cables; for example, the DT1990, which I own and love. The term "premium" for the 880 was perhaps an unfortunate choice by the marketing staff. I own those phones, too, and like them for everything but sub-bass. They drop off under about 40Hz, whereas the the 1990 are nearly flat to 20 Hz (!). Highly recommend. (Are you listening, Drop?)
