How are the 880’s for gaming? I play Pubg destiny battlefield type games so footsteps are the most important. I have the HD 650s but are not good for gaming IMO. Been thinking about an IEM for gaming (not many reviews or opinions on IEMs for gaming online) for the comfort/versatility if I can’t find a good audiophile headphone for gaming $225 or less.Gaming headsets are not an option as they’re trash plus I would like to use them for music sometimes as well.

RareAirsSennheiser 598 are great for gaming. I'm getting the AKG 7XX, and I heard they are good for gaming, which I will be testing soon.

RareAirsYeah, the 598's are great and relatively inexpensive for the quality it will give you. If you need to hear every little detail, closed back are a good option also. Are you playing on console or PC. the 650's are 300 Ohms, you need a good sound card or amp to push them adequately.

RareAirsI would have to say that the Sennheiser HD 598 are some of the best as well as even the HD 558 as far as gaming goes. Others that I would include would be the HD 579, AKG K702, K7XX, K712, and also the Philips Fidelio X1 and X2 which are my personal favorites. As far as the soundstage and positional accuracy id say the HD 598’s and the X2’s probably stand out on top and both are relatively easy to drive at 50 ohms and 32ohms.

RareAirsI have the 880 & 990 premiums and the soundstage is pretty big and very realistic. Although the soundstage can slightly vary due to impedance. I have the 250 ohm version and its pretty good. Havent tried the 32ohms but if u have a proper soundcard or amp then u may benefit from it. I higly recommend the 990 for gaming

MegazineYe I'm considering the AKG 7XX's for myself, so tell me about their performance in gaming and also if they reeeallly need an amplifier. Cuz I'm not compleatly sure.

LeviruzThey arrived and the sound is incredible on my switch--directly plugged in. The volume isn't that loud since it most likely needs more juice. The quality exceeds my Sennheiser HD598 with the same method. I will be testing FPS and Paragon to see how the soundstage performs vs the HD598's.

Leviruzakg's are always known for their wider soundstage despite some of their pairs have somewhat confused imaging...havent heard d k7xx particularly but in terms of sound quality, the k7 is better than dt series in my opinion because although the beyers are extremely detailed but the treble spikes will keep on chasing u if ur music collection comprises of electronic stuff mostly so keep that in mind. Also note that a 600 ohm beyer will have a much larger soundstage and better transient and impulse response and overall fidelity than a 32 ohm model technically which are not regarded as 'hifi' as the latter. Best of luck with ur decision

RareAirs990s have amazing imaging (from an experience). 880s probably do too. 650s are nothing like these headphones, they are okay-ish imaging and no sound-stage (very narrow). If you want to hear the direction something is coming from in games 990s will do it very well. Don't necessarily get it off here though, the price on here is the same as it is on Amazon and you can get the higher impedance versions which are better.

RareAirsPersonally running HD598Cs with a modhouse audio earpad adapter (long story short, gave idea, guy engineered, got pair for free, you can buy them) and also added a nice pair of Brainwavz HM5 hybrid pads. For a closed headphone, these out perform my open HD558 that I modded for bass and soundstage. I've heard footsteps in fire fights behind me and to the left while bullets fly by at two and six o' clock. Unfortunately, my 114USD 598Cs, are now selling for 184 or so. Adapter, 17USD, ear pads are about 25USD...
