Update: It's the Premium Special Edition that are the most comfortable. Those are the ones that Massdrop should drop.
Update 2: People on Amazon seem to like the Pro better, so maybe the Premium Special Edition is too loose. Feel free to comment.

Regarding comfort, it's definitely a preference thing. Sampled the Premiums but only own the Pros. Comfort is a column A/column B affair. Premium headband is softer and looks nicer. From what I remember the Chrome has the same fit as the regulars. Pros have a tighter clasp which feels secure and I happen to like. Certainly not vice-grip territory though (pads are great). Dig the removeable headband cover too. I've even warmed to having a coiled cable since it is quite flexible (and technically longer when stretched) but I do wish they'd finally make this line with detachable cables. I admit the Pros look really dated and utilitarian with small-looking cups but they wear much better than they look.

I've heard the same thing. The silver pads on the regular pros are said to be absolutely comfortable. I have some less expensive Beyers that are no longer made, and the velour on them is absolutely soft. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. They are all very comfortable.

I have sort of a big noggin, so I went with the 880 Premiums, I'm pretty sensitive to clamping force and I wasn't sure how much they could be stretched (using the Premiums "as is" and they're comfortable). I also wanted the straight cable, though at some point I thought I might do the removable cable mod - however, now, I think I may wind up selling mine when my HD-6XXs arrive in a couple of weeks. The struggle is real :D

I think you did the right thing. If they would just put all the right ingredienrrs together. I've sampled the HD6XX and find that the ear pads aren't quite big enough. But I have big ears.
My ideal design would be the hammock, or reverse hammock, of the AKGs with the earcups of the Beyers, and a straight cable.

Haha, the ultimate Frankenstein mod collab. Yeah I really like the AKG hammock/bar design. They always look more fragile than they actually are. Dig the huge earcups too.

Given that back when I started this headphone stuff, the DT880, HD650, and K701 were all kings of recommended gear, I don't think you need to try to argue one is better, or tell someone they won't like one. Listen and find out for yourself. Myself, I think Beyerdynamic tends to be overly bright. They make some great stuff, but it's not for me. The Senns are much more in line with my tastes.

That is quite true, it all falls into what the person's ears are attached too... we all perceive sound differently, especially when it comes to being an "audiophile" of sound.
