Would the 250ohm pair well with a Little Dot 1+ or maybe a schiit stack? How does this stack up to a K7xx? I've heard the 990's have piercing highs will these be the same?

jacksbI would say it works well with the schiit stack, but I never owned a Little Dot 1+. I own both and for me, the K7XX and the 990s is a totally different beast. With the 990s (I have the limited edition pros), u get great bass, I'd say better than my K7XX. Alongside the bass, you get highs. Super detailed highs, coupled with amazing soundstage and separation which will make you feel the 'airiness' in your music. 250 ohm also not rlly that hard to drive tbh. The K7XX triumphs in overall balance and smoother presentation, with pleasant details present as your music goes. The problems I see in the 990s are the highs being positioned in a line where with a single push, it goes sibilant. Bad recordings (low bit mp3s) and underamplification (phones, ipods) will give the highs the push. Signature is also V-shaped, with the midrange being pulled slightly back from the front line. The problems I see in the K7XX are its power hungryness and loooooong burn in times (200+ hrs here). So get the 990s if u want massive soundstage, detailed highs, and great bass; and get the K7XX if you want a pleasant overall tonal balance, with decent bass for an open pair and fatigue-free listening since the spectrum is more linear than the 990s. Btw, get an amp first before getting either of them. oh and no portables please! desktops are reccommended, especially if u r going for the K7XX!

Raider275Very detailed response, thanks a lot! Sounds like the K7xx will be more to my taste - pleased to hear you own both pairs and didn't mention any major drawbacks with either pair. Good to know how important an amp is, I might have been disappointed otherwise. Looks like I'll be jumping on the next 7xx drop I'm hoping for the all black ones!

jacksbYes. If you are looking to get the K7XX, I suggest you wait (they drop pretty frequently, so no rush lol) because if you don't have an amp and go with their 64 ohms impedance and plug them in any portable source, they will sound hollow and dull.
