I have the 770 880 both 250 ohm. Is it worth getting the 990?

Since you have the 880s ID say no. The 880s have a little different sound due to the semi-open back and the 990s fully open otherwise they are very simular. I've had and used both professionally and at home and I'd say they're both incredible headphones. I'd save your money for something very different.

I don’t have any of these, but I’ve been doing research on the 990 600 ohm version. I found some videos on YouTube comparing the 880 and 990. They say the 880 is more neutral/flat/analytical while the 990 have more of a “U” shape sound signature. More bass, recessed mids, and more treble. Reviews say the 990 treble can be too sharp, but after break in are more tamed, but still very sharp. I found one review saying the 990 with a tube amp (OTL amp like the dark voice) helps tame the highs and fill in the mids while still having the same bass. Also 990 has a bigger sound stage Due to being fully open back. According to z reviews the 990 250 vs 600 the 600 has a tighter more precise sound. I’ll be joining this drop For the 600 version.

thanks for the reply - let me know if your experience is close to what you’ve researched on YouTube. Having both 250 ohm 770 and 880 I was surprised that the 770 had presented itself with higher treble I would have thought 770 would be warmer than 880 but turns out it was opposite.
