I think these are misunderstood, underrated headphones, guys. The better the equipment, the better they sound and the less piercing the highs become. I love my DT 990 Pro 250 ohm even though I'm very sensitive to treble. My Asgard 2 fed by a Denon DA-300USB makes them sound amazing. They are totally transformed. The V-shape is flattened: bass gets thicker and tighter, mids get fuller and more upfront, and highs are smoothed while remaining nuanced. The sound-stage and imaging get eye-wateringly good. Sound just comes out of a black void of nothingness. I love them, and they're perfect on my big ears and small head. I think they're one of the bargains of the century, how for less than $200, one can get such impressive sound quality and presentation. They have nothing to envy from my pricier cans. God bless!

raansire7My fave cans. I use a D10 and Darkvoice and listen for hours. Prefer them to HD6xx

raansire7I’ve wanted to get some open backs, and i’ve tried these in a store, but didn’t know where to start in order to drive them... until now ^_____^

do.infinitelyYeah, man. I know we all hear differently and have different likes and brain calibrations...but in all honesty, this combination makes me want to scream to the winds about it. After writing my comment, I went straight to take a listen...and the picture. First thing I thought when music started playing was, "Aaah, if the guys could hear this while reading my comment on Massdrop..." 😃

raansire7Hey, I am new to the audio world so I am curious as to why your Denon DA-300USB is not enough to plug the headphones directly to it?

Hello friend, the Denon has a low-powered amp that puts out 50mW at 32 ohm. That's enough power for properly driving my AudioQuest NightHawk Carbon or my Sennheiser HD 630VB, but not for high impedance headphones designed to be driven by studio equipment or high power amplifiers. The DT 990 Pro will sound loud enough on the Denon, but not good. Imagine an RC car with low batteries. It still runs, but not at its peak performance as with charged batteries. You can hear the electric motors straining to produce power with the low current, and the car runs much slower. While it runs, you just can't use it to its max potential. Same with high impedance headphones. God bless!

raansire7You forgot to mention good recordings, especially natural recordings.
