b14cx0utAre the premiums worth 100$ more?

EASTTXActually, the $175 you saw is a DT990 PRO. This one is "Premium". I don't recall what's different other than the headband pressure (one is tighter...don't recall which) and the exterior grill color (silver vs black...not sure if it's also material difference).

CygnusAThe difference isn't that much. The professionals have a tighter grip, and slightly stronger bass.

Pro comes with Coiled cable, and Premium come with Straight cable, it also comes with a nicer carrying bag in Premium http://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/accessories/dt-bag-nylon-black.html i think that is the major difference in Premium and Pro. I just picked up a Pro version in Canada Online Store right before this drop come on, and that is even cheaper than the lowest drop price in here for Premium.

SlaanderThanks! But nothing on head-grip? Could've sworn I read something about that and how that affects what you're hearing on the PRO vs PREMIUM.
*EDIT* Nomad_Soul a couple of posts below mentioned the head-clamping difference.

fumobspro is tighter, but I don't feel any hard pressure, as they got super huge ear cup, and very soft too. both my dt770 pro and dt990 pro I can wear them over 10 hours never feel any pain or think there is a head phone on my head at all.

SlaanderHow do the two compare? Right now I have a dt770 pro 80, dt880 (premium I guess, metal side). I like the bass extension on the 770 but I like open air like the 880 for home use (770s are great at drowning out coworkers though so those usually live at work :) ). So I basically want the sound of 770 but the style of 880.
...I need to stop buying headphones and just be happy with what I have lol

vrillusionsbasically is kinda like 880, but has little more tight bass, not like the 770, but you can feel it, you can see those reviews which can tell you more than I do

,

but if you already own 880 and 770, no point to get 990 , 770 = closed, 880 = semi open, 990 = bigger semi open, is not much difference than 880 but little more bass.
I have a few myself as well, my favor out of them is Logitech UE6000, and DT990 Pro so far. UE6000 for probable along with my audioengine d1 for my laptop, and xduoo TA-01 with dt 990 at home use. (was using 770, but the 990 in place for now )

SlaanderI have the DT880 32Ohm and was after something that sounds similarly neutral, but with more bass for gaming. Based on your experience can you recommend anything? I was under the impression that the DT990 600Ohm would fit the bill.

mihalski600 ohm is very hard to drive, you will need an amp to push, pc or ipod/cell phone will not able to drive 600 ohm. 880 is more fit to natural sound, and I like bass that is why I pick 990 over 880, you can still feel the bass on the 990, but not boomy like 770, and don't get 600 ohm if you tight in budget, get the 250 ohm, if not you will need to buy an amp on the side. I am using 250 ohm 990, either audioengine D1, XDuoo TA-01, I need to turn volume to 100%, 90% to able to get to the 110db I need on the 250 ohm. you can also read here, I think there should be more detail for you http://www.head-fi.org/t/513393/guide-sonic-differences-between-dt770-dt990-models-more

SlaanderThanks for the info. I've found myself using my headphones exclusively with an AV Receiver which dedicates all it's power to the headphone jack when a headphone is plugged in. I also read that the 600Ohm 990's were the definitive version better in all respects, especially bass at that very weblink :P
