If anyone would know if a ASUS xonar d2x can power 600ohm I'd really appreciate it if you'd reply. I've googled a ton and only found one user, on a forum, claiming it can. Unless there is another way to tell other than plugging the headphones in? It sure isn't specified in the specifications at least. In any case, I'll get an amp DAC if the xonar can't take it.
not sure, when I was first getting into audio I was looking into high end sound cards but then decided against it because I wanted the sound out of my computer due to electrical noise I was having problems with.. that card only has a bunch of 3.5mm and rca connections on the back of it from what I can see so it was probably made for more of the 7.1 type speakers rather than high end headphones.. they'll push sound through the DT990s but it may not sound as good as it should... I went FiiO e07k (dac) and E09k (amp).. their specs say the e09K can handle up to 600 ohm headphones and a few reviews I was watching was with others that had the same combo so yayy
You're probably right, I got the xonar years ago when I fooled myself into getting a 7.1 headphone. I just read good things about the built in amp for headphones a little here and there. We'll see how it fares, my roomate got a good dac-amp I can borrow until I decide to get my own.
