Hi, just received today. But it is not working - left side is totally dead, no sounds at all. Disappointed as it was a long wait and it is not working! How to get a working replacement?

Gg118There is a replacement form that comes in the box. You'll have to also contact mass drop directly through their support.

Gg118Try different cable. Any way, people recommend to change the original cable due to poor sound.

kimdeugThanks everyone for your advice. I have contacted Massdrop support and am now trying to decide which of the 3 options to take up.

kimdeugPeople are stupid. There is no such thing as cable sound

Steffen3Not totally agree about stupidity:))) But I have had around 300 headphones cables (branded and hand made by me) and definitely can hear the difference in sound. Apart of Freq VS dB graphs (which is common for headphones profiles), there is so many other things you can not put on graphs. Such as: richness of sound, warmness of tonality, accentuation (speed response). Also depends of gear you are using. Have found that some cables even do interesting effects: like make running your headphone more effortlessly. Its like to jump from the average bicycle to well lubricated and professionally tuned racing bicycle. This is a long argue between cable believers and opposes, but this is what I have found by doing my own experiments with different wires in real life.

kimdeugI would be totally open if anyone could back up their opinion with science. I doubt that there are any differences in the sound of a cable (as long as it is fully functioning) and even if there was a slight difference, people probably won't be able to hear it in a blind test. A cable's only function is to conduct the signal from a player to the speaker(s). cables don't have any enhancing functionality built into them

Steffen3Back in the day, when were no such things as headphone amplifiers, I Just for fun used 10AVG speaker cables instead of headphone cable to 1/4 balanced jacks. What I have found that total volumetric copper mass working as capacitor ( like capacitor in car sub woofer), as result the bass was detailed, more pronounced. The sound improvement was dramatic, but it was funny to see 40mm diameter cables go to each headphone driver:)) Later I start to look in crystal structure of copper and play with polarization effects, and how it affects the sound.

Gg118Sounds like a defective cable. (they probably forgot to solder the left side). It happens. The buds if they are in the box, means they have been tested, and should be working.

Gg118Hey, please make sure when you connect the cable to the bud you hear a click sound after you snap the cable into place. Similar thing happened to mine and after I had the cable connected with a click sound the left was working fine.

kimdeugHi, I finally found some time to test it out. And all of you are right! When the cables are swapped, the other side went silent. Now need to find a new set of cables.... I told Massdrop Support that it would take too long for a replacement to reach me. Luckily, the ear pieces are working. Thank goodness.

Gg118Glad to hear that your DM6 hasn't been affected. The cable by it self is very easy to repair, just find someone with soldering skills. Now days cables are cheap, especially on AliExpress. Particularly for this DM6 model , BGVP decided to use a good looking but not good sounding cable. As result muffled mids and emphasized trebles (link to review). Recently have bought LUNSOL cables on MD- not a bad option for 50$ compare with my more expensive cables as IBASSO SB13 or Nobunaga Labs Yuzen/Tsujigahana.
