NathanielKigerWell i have the FA7 and they are great, not everyone likes the DM series, I for one prefer the FA7 becasue it is not as bassy as the DM series
Len1ckIf you haven't heard them how would you know? I've owned the DM6 since October and have never heard anything to indictate they were "Bassy". If the frequency is in the music your gear needs to reproduce it. I've never understood the disdain for low frequencies from iem people. The DM6 can handle any genre but it's not in bass head category by any means like many of the KZ units which do VOLUMOUS bass for rap, pop and electronic music much better. If you want to hear the texture and details in the low frequencies the DM6 are very capable.
KevinJC85No. Don't have the DM7 yet. However the DM7 is the one to look at if you're new to BGVP. The DM7 fixes several of the problems with the DM6. Mainly the 10K treble Spike and following drop. And the forward but dry midrange. The DM6 can be difficult to acclimate to after listening to other iems. And while I have the DMG and am curious about the DMS, I have my sights on the DM7 unless something else pops up that's better and in the $250 and under bracket. Read the DMS review on the contraptionist blog. He feels the DMS is a well tuned revision of the DMG and likes it better than the DM6.b
Assimilator702Thanks. I'm slightly intrigued by the DMS's "open back" for potential safety while running outside across streets that might have traffic or still being able to hear co-workers if they ask questions. Have you seen any comments on whether or not it actually lets much outside sounds through the grill?
KevinJC85I don't think they're actually that open. The area is so small unlike a pair of full size open backs you're not letting a significant amount of sound in. And to be honest after owning the DMG and DM6 I would NEVER take them outside the house for any physical activity. Running off a phone you won't get 100% from them and you're better off with something less expensive. They're also too delicate and if you happen to drop one or snag the cable you'd be screwed. I can heartily recommend a set of KZ ZSN PRO for outside use. They have a nice sound signature and run very nice off phone power. I recently got the ZSN, ZS10 PRO, ZSN PRO and the CCA C10. And while I dont plan on bringing any of those to the gym I would be more apt to bringing one of those sets than either of my BGVP sets. I treat those more the way you would enjoy fine wine, a nice Scotch or a Cuban cigar.
Assimilator702I have the Fiio M3 strapped to my arm when I run. However, my phone is an LGV30, and generally better than most if not all phones at powering headphones. I currently use the Final E4000's for running with my Fiio M3. Should I just leave it at that? Or would the KZ improve?
Would E5000's or DM7's give me much more than DMG's on my un-amped LGV30 or un-amped MacBook pro when inside?
KevinJC85For inside use I can say DM6 is technically a much better iem. The level of detail it extracts from the recording is amazing. There are some tuning issues like the treble spikes that make the treble uneven and apparently the DM7 fixes that. With that being said the DMG are only slightly better than the DMG and on many tracks it comes down to the cymbals sounding less splashy on the DMG. DMS is according to some a sideways step only improving a few areas. To another reviewer it is in the same league as the DM7. I haven't heard the Final Audio so I would say it's a safe bet getting the DMS and if you fall in love try the DM7. I'm on the fence about the DMS and really just want to put the $$$ towards the DM7 since I have several iems that approach or match the performance level of the DMS.
