I wrote a review elsewhere, but thought I'd share it here as well:
Instead of using my clothing as a cozy for freeze-dried meals, I now use this and keep food smells off my clothing. It works great, stands up on its own, easy to wipe down, and lightweight as well. I keep it in my bear bag at night.
My one complaint is that Big Sky doesn't sell a smaller version. This thing is huge! All my backcountry meals are much smaller (I included a picture showing my freezer bag meal at the bottom of the bag). I'd like to see them sell a pouch that's about half the height as this one.
Other than the excess size (and therefore weight & volume), it's a great product. Worth the weight to me (for reference my tent without stakes is 2lb, my backpack 2lb, my 10F sleeping quilt 19oz).

CardamomteaThanks for your suggestion...
What (smaller) size do you suggest?

bigskyintlI would suggest quart freezer bag size, judging by the photo above. If you need to stir your meal it would be easier to reach in.

velo-femmeI‘d buy a quart size as well. All my meal prep is done with quart sized bags.

bigskyintlI'd definitely by a quart-sized one as well. HMG just came out with something similar for quart sized bags, but it is way out of my price range considering I have a DIY reflectix cozy that does the trick. But at a comparable price for a smaller version, I'd definitely buy one.

velo-femmeHere are dimensions I got off ziploc's web site for a quart size storage bag: 7-7/8" x 5-7/8" x 1-7/8" (pleat) (20cm x 14.9cm x 4.7cm) Big Sky's Insulite pouch is 10in x 10in (25cm x 25cm) so maybe smaller size would be 9in (23cm) high x 7in (18cm) wide with pleat on the bottom?

bigskyintl$40 - for ONE bag. I think it’s made with DCF outer fabric stuffed with Thinsulate. Weighs about the same as yours.

CardamomteaThanks for your pictures and comments!
As a side note, when we decided on the size, we thought it should be able to fit a Mountain House 2.5servings bag. Personally, I use an Insulite pouch to fit one main entree/meal in quart size zip bag, plus two sides, such as vegetables, mashed potatoes, etc. in sandwich size zip bags for a great three course meal.

bigskyintlHi! Yes I think that would do it. Maybe even 8.75" high, 6.75" wide. As long as there is room to slide it in and out easily. Thanks!

velo-femmeWe looked into making an Insulite pouch smaller to better fit a quart size freezer bag. Attached is a picture with quart freezer bag on Insulite pouch. As you can see the height would need to be same to accommodate zip lock closure, etc. Sides could 1in (3m) narrower, but this would not save much weight and cost would basically be the same.

bigskyintlThanks for looking into this, I'm surprised that it was this close, but I guess volume makes a difference as well. I did join the drop so will be trying out the original size and hopefully it will work great! -Alane

bigskyintlHi Big Sky! While the current bag is similar in height to a quart bag, I never fill my quart bag up to the top with water, and I fold the sealed top down, so ideally the quart-sized model of an Insulite pouch would be about 5". Thank you so much for looking into this, it's much appreciated! :-)

CardamomteaI think we understand what you are saying, the size you would like is probably more similar to filled sandwich sized zip lock bag, correct?

CardamomteaI plan on just adding a good auality self stick velcro to the bag so I can fold the flap over more to make a smaller pouch as needed

IanoutdoorsThat's a good idea. I was thinking about just shortening it by cutting off a bit from the bottom and just re-sewing it shut.
