Has anyone else had a issue with their silverware rusting??
I washed mine and dried them by hand and the next morning they had rust on them.
I wonder what they would have looked like if I put them in the dishwasher.
I am not happy at all.
ImSorryButWhoYep, Definitely, I was shocked to open the drawer and see this, I wonder what they would have looked like if I ran them through the dishwasher even though it does say dishwasher safe.
I am so disappointed...
memaherMay I ask for details on what you used to clean them?
Trying to get an idea on what's going on before deciding to purchase
I think I see scratchy marks on the surface, was it an aggressive green scouring pad by chance?
And hand dried or air dried?
KavikNothing aggressive was used.
Dawn dish soap, cotton dishcloth, towel dried and put away in drawer.
Even if I used scotch-brite pads, stainless steel would not rust.
the scratchy marks you see were there out of the box, the "scratch" marks are not as bad as they look in the photo
memaherThanks for the response. Without having any in hand to compare, I didn't know how polished the finish was on these to start, so just thought I'd check
Not to argue, but using anything that scratches the surface on stainless can cause rust if it removes the chromium layer on the surface, if it isn't perfectly dry and the iron has time to react before the new layer of chromium oxide forms (Google what makes stainless steel stainless, it's interesting how it works)
Regarding why I believe it rusted on the handles and not the polished surface, scroll to my conversion with @larold24 for my thoughts
