The first round of Blackvue 400s has shipped! The rest will be arriving from Korea within the next few days and we'll ship them out as quickly as possible.
This is a rip even if the $198 price is reached. I bought this brand new from amazon for $160 a few months ago, but I did purchase the newer DR500 on massdrop for $239.
Still it's a good camera and I have not had issues with it at all. I've had it running for about 6 months now and it's on all the time.
anelson524@Andrew I've seen it tested at 60C and it worked fine. Massdrop is really good at handling warranty issues. If the unexpected happens they'll look after you.
@Bert - You got REALLY lucky, the dealer would have taken a loss at that price. I've seen the wholesale figures from a group buy in another forum and it's above the $160 mark.
@Jordan - Hmm lucky, I could never get the tape to come off nicely. Was the camera installed only briefly? My experience was 2 weeks after the initial installation - never the same afterwards.
I find the tape sticks very damn well so if you apply it lightly you can remove it and stick it on countless cars. Ive since sold my car and reused it on my new car. Not to mention I've also shifted it around many times to fit nicely up top and it doesn't let go. It's quite versatile.
Anyone know if there are any other mounts for this, like a suction cup instead of sticky tape?
Was looking to get one for when I travel, so I can move it from rental car to rental car.
Also, I don't seem to see a "what's in the box". The one on Amazon shows it comes with a 16gb SD card. Does this one have one, or need one?
Does the manufacturer make any at all?
I couldn't seem to find anything, wasn't sure if I was looking it the right spot. The rotating ring looks like it might be tough to find a compatible third party mount.
DaeukaThe rotating mount is proprietary and short of buying multiple mounts / tape the DR400G is not the best product for multiple vehicles. Velcro works poorly as well, not enough strength and the video becomes shaky.
I suppose you could duct tape the mount to your windshield but it ain't going to be pretty.
One community member reported that their SD card was empty when they received their Blackvue, i.e. the Pittasoft software wasn't installed on it. We cracked open a couple of our sample units and noticed the same. Looks like you need to use the card in the camera first, and the camera will automatically copy all of the program files onto the memory card. Any of you guys have similar experiences?
