Well, I bought this awhile back, and have been using it ever since.
I haven't actually experienced any date issue, but it seems to require Windows to upgrade firmware (little detail).
Also, once upgraded, the BlackVue apps on either Mac or Windows tend to forget the timezone info, as well as the wifi settings, so you will have to reconfigure them manually again.
Lastly, don't expect the mic to work very well. It is muffled, like it is underwater.
One last thing, I live in a neighborhood where it isn't a good idea to keep the dash cam visible in the car (well, no matter how hard you hide it, you can still kind tell). So I would still unplug the power source, and hide it in my glove compartment. Now, your dash cam comes with a black plastic cover for its lens, so you can adjust it so that you can use it to protect your lens whenever you take dash cam off. The problem is that the plastic cover is somewhat abrasive and rough in edges, so if you use the cover, be aware that it will start shaving off the black finish on the dash cam surface (not the lens, it is the black surface body)
