This is my first time using MassDrop, and it's not great so far. I've had no tracking information, it's taking ages for delivery, and I now see that as a Canadian I'm going to get hit with an additional $40 brokerage fee? C'mon...might as well buy on eBay or just organize my own group buy.

AlexS4They handed off to US mail (USPS). You should have a $10 dollar brokerage fee via Canada Post just like the rest of us, plus whatever HST is due.
This is way cheaper than getting it via UPS (they add $47 for brokerage).
