Question if anyone knows, my cigarette lighter stays on when the ignition is off. This has been causing me problems with the battery dying. But if I plug this battery into the cigarette lighter, will it work without a relay or will I have to wire one in? In which case, I'd just hardwire the whole thing.

JdkunzIf you plug the battery pack into your always-on cigarette lighter, the car battery will still end up being drained because the battery pack will assume your car is still on and keep charging itself.

I currently have the power magic pro. Would this work with the PMP? It would be nice to run the battery pack until it dies, then the PMP would pull from the car battery.

Thanks for the detailed response. I would most definitely just use the pmu over the pmp. The pmp never goes into parking mode since the voltage is lower in the winter and sometimes in the summer but only stays on for a little bit so by the time I get back to my car its usually off and not able to tell me if an impact was occurred, or turns off right when I open the door. I could set the pmp to the lowest volt setting but that's right above a dead battery....

Fury1Your situation of the PMP not staying on long enough when it's cold, was the exact reason for getting my battery supply. I live in an area where the winters can frequently get into the negatives. I figure beside the peace of mind knowing my dash cam will always be recording, it will also do less wear and tear on the battery. I really didn't want to be stranded because of a dead car battery in winter. I have my DR750S-2 channel, and the battery supply for over 1 year now and never had a major problem with either of them, the dash cam is pretty much running 24-7, the battery life is more than sufficient and highly dependable. Glad to help, I had the same exact though as you when I was researching my own solution to this problem.
