What an awful first experience with Drop and Boldr. Ordered three watches for gifts, one is obviously been used and returned then sent to me, one the second hand is not attached and is floating around on the face of the watch. The third one seems fine, but am reluctant to give as a gift.
You must buy this watch!
I know, it’s boring and not the kind of watch you’d normally be willing to open your wallet for, but there’s a bigger issue to consider—the very survival of MD could be at stake. I say this because while it’s obvious MD is going through some major changes, there may be more to it than just their new name and revised site. It’s very likely it’s also a financial issue, as a matter of fact, it may be PRIMARILY a financial issue.
The fact is, the investor/owners of MD expect “X” amount of ROI. If they don’t get it here, they’ll pursue it elsewhere—simple as that.
Now, if you’re primarily a watch guy, you may not be aware of the extent of those changes and how they’ve effected other communities and members—members MD has lost. You can read more about that here:
https://drop.com/talk/25034/changes-in-several-drop-communities-and-interestsSo far, we’re safe—watches are a money-maker, but only if we buy them! If MD can’t sell boring watches, it puts MD’s more interesting watches in significant jeopardy. In other words, the more selective our purchases are, the more we push the watch community towards the cliff of oblivion!
I know what you’re thinking, you say: “Well, why can’t MD just offer more of the stuff we really do want to buy?”
NO—that’s the wrong way to think about it! If we could rely on MD to do that, we wouldn’t be having this conversation (or this drop)! Unfortunately, the only solution is for us to keep buying these uninteresting, boring watches, to insure the future of MD as a whole, and more importantly, our Watch Community!
So, please buy this uninspiring, boring watch! Do it for yourself, do it for MD, and most importantly, do it for me, because, buddy, there’s no way in hell I’d ever buy a watch this damn ugly ;- )
Ad hominum. Not a good way to construct arguments. I know you can do better!!. And both my parents were killed by a drunk driver about 40 years ago, so no, I wont be talking to them.
The gap is unbearable. they tried to reinvent the wheel and failed miserably. It upsets me that they would have the guts to put their brand name on it and release this steaming load onto the world.
Apparently there are some quality problems with the movement and the second hand alignment on this watch, have read some about it and seen a bunch of videos where watch enthusiasts confirming that is the case.
Calaverasgrandethanks a lot for the interest. The Khaki NATO strap is just a color dye, similar to the green dye on Jungle Green.
@Trevgloyde is correct, the beauty of this straps is that you can easily get replacements online quite cheaply. Only thing is they don’t come with Titanium keepers like we give 😬😬
