Better
I got caught up in the hype surrounding the BLON BL-03 when they first came out. There was no telling what animal they were made to fit. The cables were poor and the included tips were laughably bad. Never got the results that others talked about. Especially that YouTuber that pushes Chi Fi. I was convinced it was an "Emperor's New Clothes" moment. I sprung for good cables and foam tips, but still found them lacking. Along comes the BLON BL-05 and I decided to give this company one last chance at redemption. This time I was going to judge them as delivered. No new cables or tips. These are what the originals (BL-03's) should have been. These fit normal humans. They sit well in the ear and feel secure. The build quality of the body seem much better than expected at this price point. The cables are still a bit stiff. but usable. Got a good seal with the included silicone tips, which is surprising since I usually use foam. Reasonable bass without being muddy. The treble can be a little shrill, especially at volume. I'll try some foam tips and see if that changes the sound signature significantly. Very good for the price.

As impressive as the BL-03's and they fit!
I loved the BL-03's but, like every review in the world says, the fit is lacking. I swapped out the cable and put on some quality foam tips, and they are nothing short of amazing, especially for the price. The -05's 100% fix the fit issue and sound almost exactly the same as the -03's with a little cleaner/better low-mid range. I honestly cannot tell the difference in tuning, if one even exists. Adding foam tips is almost mandatory, but the cable really isn't bad.

Caveat? Accessories? You don't have any.
The supplied cable is crap. Actually it's a belly crawler under the crap. You might have reservations giving it to a friend, who had an emergency and needed a cable. I got three tips with mine. Two mediums and one small. I had a worthy cable in the bull pen. Then a good supply of AZLA's and/or Spinfits to fit my large openings. Settled on the Spinfit (CP 145's) as they offered the best fit geometry and sound quality. After a bit of burn-in? The bud is a keeper. Started life with and L shaped curve. Smoothed out after twenty or so hours to be quite enjoyable. Doesn't have the octave to octave balance of the Moondrop Starfield as an example. But the Moondrop doesn't have the palpability and up front dynamics of the BLON either. The BLON is never fatiguing or strident. I don't have a need to unscrew the BLON's for another bud. The ergonomics make it a comfortable fit in my ears, as comfortable than the Moondrop Starfield. Great bud!

It’s a BLON, but with a different tuning.
This fits MUCH better than the BL03, but it currently costs more. I personally don’t think the sound is better or worse than the BL03’s sound, it’s just different. There is a bit less bass, so it doesn’t intrude on the lower midrange, and the upper midrange and treble are more accentuated. Some people find the upper midrange to be somewhat harsh and “shouty”, but I don’t find it to be that way. With narrow bore ear tips, is actually sounds quite similar to the BL03 with wide bore tips. One can tell that they both come from the same family. Unfortunately, the technicalities are not obviously better than those of the BL03. The timbre of the dynamic driver is just as good as the BL03’s though. Overall recommended, IF you want this type of tuning.

joeftanYou could say that about 95% of headphones in the $50-$500 range. They ALL sound the same minus bass extension. Unless you’re buying trash headphones, they all sound the same.

Decent for the price
These iems are decent in a bubble. But you compare them to the tins or decide you're ok with spending more for some moondrops or even the bl 03 and these don't stand up. They are too bright and too narrow. It's fatiguing to listen to them for any amount of time.

The fit perfectly and sound amazing. The tonality is in par with my expectations. I tried other cables, but I prefer the stock cables.

Great for the price!
The fit is still a bit strange but that's subjective. Right ear fits perfectly but left can never stay in. BUT...waaaaaay better in the fit department then the BL-03.

A different flavor to the BL03's
I always rate products to the price, and you definitely get what you pay for. Compared to the BL03's the Bass is reduced but the vocals and highs are more pronounced. I do feel they do image a slight bit better than the BL03's though. definitely has weight due to its all metal construct, but I find it to be comfortable in the ear In conclusion, it's the brighter cousin that's loud and I like the option to swap between the two depending on my preference at the time, though I do tend to go for the BL03's more often than the BL05's

Not bad for an intro level
Not bad, but not great. For me these don't do anything that makes me think about them, like there isn't anything specail about the sound that draws me to them. I do like the design, and feel/fit better then the 03.

Exceptional for the price, would recommend to anyone looking for a bang for your buck iem. Bass is not as pronounced when compared to the BL03s but there is a nice balance to the sound.
