After a fateful trip to Asbury Park, New Jersey native Jimmy Hankins had the idea of injecting the best of the boardwalk into an all-American product. Landing on blue jeans as the ideal vessel for combining the past and future of the iconic beach town, he spent years constructing the perfect pair of pants to embody the area: the Boardwalk Straight 1877 14 oz Raw Denim Jeans.
Starting with 100% cotton sourced from fabled White Oak Cone Mills in North Carolina, the 14 oz raw denim is left untreated and brought together using selvedge seams for maximum durability. Cut with modern men in mind, the straight waist follows a slight taper down the leg to inseams that are long enough for stacking, should that be your fancy. These jeans are meant for activity, for men who run through the woods and motorcycle through the city, who need something minimally styled that won’t break down.
In addition to handcrafting each pair, one at a time, and using a shuttle loom instead of a modern projectile loom, Asbury Park pays further tribute to its historical namesake through the details. At the button fly, the top button contains the iconic amusement park fun face, Tillie, as does the hand burnished leather patch on the back. The other buttons and rivets have the same oxidized tint and are modeled after nearby manhole covers. Full of vibrant imagery and attention to detail in every ounce, the Boardwalk Straight 1877 14 oz Raw Denim Jeans give you the best of the boardwalk in jeans that can take you everywhere else.
