The Mollusk, a collaboration between Boker and CountyComm, is almost more blade than it is handle—which isn’t a bad thing. In fact, thanks to the C-shaped blade, you get even more edge than you would with a typical folder Read More
It's good deal any way you look at it. You get ti framelock, d2 blade, and marbled cf scale at the same price as the nano with stainless frame lock, aus8 blade, and frn scale.
Workingclassless84My only problem is that lockup is a little weird. The lockbar doesnt really lock tightly onto the blade, yet there is no up and down blade play. Weird....
Very nice , and well priced, D2, carbon fiber, and titanium and even a hardened lock bar insert for $54.00 . The only issue for me which is really no issue is the billboard on the blade specifically the D2 and the plus which identifies it as a Chinese not German production , but again for $54.00 still a good deal.
sabrageSo yes? Got alarmed when they changed the name and nowhere is he mentioned in the text. Also countycomm + boeker have form doing a knife that was not attributed to Brad Zinker in the 'Gent'. But I now see they have Curtiss logo on the blade so I guess that means they pay him
Has anyone received one of these knives yet? Could you give an update, perhaps answering some of the questions asked here? I really like the blade shape and would still like to know about the knife in general. Kind regards.
KizerI've gotten mine, Kizer. Did a review in the Reviews Section a few days ago. I think we talked about it there, but I don't have time to look right now. I love the knife myself. I had a specific reason for wanting something that small though. I would understand anyone saying it's too small, but I'm OK with its size. I'm a big guy with big hands and I don't have any trouble with using it, opening it, closing one-handed or holding it at weird angles while cutting with it. I think it's a good buy, but other's mileage certainly may vary. Have a good'un.
OK, more research. This is the same blade as the nano - I don't think it is hollow ground. It doesn't look hollow ground. If it is, it is very shallow. No mention of the blade being hollow ground in the reviews - just that it's "beefy". They got the blade thickness wrong too. Look at Nick Shabbaz's review of the nano - thick blade, no good for slicing. See the swedging on the front of the knife (straight line, not bowed like a hollow grind would be). You'd think the hollow grind would show up here - they look identical to me. Top pic is the mollusk, bottom pic is the nano.
KizerIt's really hard to tell...the pics here show a slight curve to the reflections I thought, but you're right about the edge of the swedge looking pretty straight.
P. S.
The Edge of the Swedge, my new band name lol
By looks, this is my sort of knife. However, it does look same design as the nano, and that knife has some issues. Thick behind the edge, teflon washers, putting pressure on the lock bar while opening. Can't find any reviews of this at all. Just the sales video from countycomm themselves. Can't even find the thickness of the blade or what the rockwell hardness is. I'll hang on to my money. I nearly bought it :)
