I have the carbon scale version. It's too slippery to deploy easily without fumbling. ymmv

I find my ZDP/Ti Leek more practical than the Kwaiken. Slimmer, lighter, easier to deploy. I was excited to get the Kwaiken, to be sure it's a great looking knife, nicely made and finished. it never made it to my pocket tho.

For reference, my favorite EDC before this was either the Gerber AR 3.00 or the CRKT M16-14ZER

Is your kwaiken pre-redesign or post? Mine is post, and I wonder if there may have been a change in the detent that holds the blade closed as part of the redesign? I've got #2131

Mine appears to be #1062, assuming that the number on the spine of the blade is what you mean. Also, my flipper is completely smooth, and I've heard newer ones have jimping.
