55 bucks for cheap 440C steel. Seriously?

ToxicBear in mind, 440C isn't necessarily a bad steel. You're mostly paying for the design and machining rather than the materials. For reference, 1095, which is highly regarded in fixed blades, costs about half as much as 440C from a knife supply outlet, but you see it on fixed blades much more expensive than this, such as Ka-Bar Becker series, a very highly regarded series of fixed blades. The blade steel isn't the bottom line. It's also noteworthy that it comes with a nice Kydex sheath, which would account for some of the cost.

salehonasiStill not convincing. It does look like $30 knife at most, even with a sheath (btw, search youtube with "knife sheath from pvc pipe"). And $123 for MSRP... Is there a gold nugget inside? :)

ToxicThat's actually a pretty cool trick; I'll have to try it out sometime. My point was mostly that, from my understanding, Kydex sheaths are more labor-intensive to mass-produce than leather sheaths, and so they tend to cost a bit more.

ToxicEven though it's coming out of China, Boker makes sure this 440C is heat treated properly. That can matter more then the steel. Even with all the super steel out today 440C still has a place and Boker uses it for a reason. I missed this the first time around but not this time!
