You really have to push the knife into the sheath harder until you hear it click. Then the sheath will hold onto the knife firmly as you'd expect. No rattle at all.
This exact same thing happened to me the first time I sheathed my knife and I thought, what a crappy sheath.
Then I pushed the knife in further until it clicked and thought, oh, duh.
If you feel you sheath is unseasonably rattley, they pushing the knife further into the sheath until you hear a firm click. That might solve the problem.
He does, in fact do that further on and then comments about how tight it is.
Yes, it is tight at first, but loosens to a reasonable level after you've pulled it in and out several times. By pushing the knife further in, the contours in the Kydex wrap around the guard as intended and secures it as designed.
Regarding the blade, I also had some reservations about D2 in an outdoor knife.
While D2 is great, it doesn't seem tough enough for hard outdoor use, like batoning. Maybe a questionable steel choice for this style of knife. I guess that's why most outdoor knives go for 1095 or other more resilient steels.
I'm glad to see this video. I really like the knife's design otherwise, but good to know it might not be up to really hard impacts.
Plus a good reminder to test your specific knives before you depend on them for anything critical. Even those models that are known to be good performers.
