I have had this for quite a while now. The only downside I found was leakage around the coffee pot cover when pouring hot coffee. This I solved by ordering o-rings of various thickness and durometer until I found a combo that did not leak. Maybe Quad rings too, I can't recall. All I know for sure is it leaked and now does not. Otherwise great machine. Makes Covffe. not much else to say. Also, I am a retired QC and Engineering Tech and while finding a problem like that leak is disappointing and indicates a lack of adequate testing on the part of the OEM, O-Rings are cheap and easy to swap.
Consistency is great. Full Saturation of coffee makes for a great cup. As someone who roasts and manages a local coffee house...I wouldn't recommend anything else to my customers / friends.
Works great! Easy to use. Flavorful coffee. I saw the complaints from some buyers, but I think their expectations are not realistic. Gets the job done and then some...
The device works and makes coffee. Unfortunately that's all I can say about it.
The carafe design is lousy, it's IMPOSIBLE to pour all the coffee out of it, whenever you don't spill it making a mess around because of a faulty seal system in the cap, you'll end fighting with the round plastic bevel that's supposed to help you pour but instead prevents you from it.
I expected so much more from Bonavita. I was originally looking at the 8-cup BV1900TS, but thought the 5-cup would work better as I most often only prepare coffee for myself. But this unit is no better than some generic discount, crappy coffeemaker. I purchased the Bonavita specifically for its ability to get water to a precise and ideal brewing temperature, and pre-soak beans before brewing. But once brewed, the water temperature decreases steadily; one would think the Coffee Brewer would have a heating element which could evenly maintain coffee temperature. Instead, if I slow down my drinking pace, I have to microwave or otherwise reheat now tepid coffee that's sitting in the carafe.
Further, the design of the carafe is bafflingly awful. The rim of the carafe, rather than facilitating easy pouring of all the brewed coffee, has a lip around the edge that actively prevents the last 1/4-1/2 cup of coffee from being poured out; the same thing happens with lingering water when you wash out the carafe. I have to dry the inside of the carafe manually every time. It also doesn't pour well; coffee leaks down the side of the carafe when pouring.
What a complete waste of money!
Did not make as good a cup of coffee as I expected from the hype. In all fairness I'm still experimenting with it, but my first impression was not great. I didn't have any of the leaking issues mentioned elsewhere and it seems to be fairly well built in general and the price is reasonable. I'm puzzled as to how the pre-infusion feature works as there is no way to stop the flow to allow blooming? All I could see was a flashing light and saturation taking place as usual???
I agree with the leaky spout, you need to really tighten the bad boy! I just brew plain old maxwell house and the taste is far superior to the run of the mill drip coffee makers. I just Like a plain old cup of coffee and this device delivers!
Makes good coffee but...it leaks brewed coffee from under the spout. Takes high torque to seal the lid on completely, so I imagine the thumb-tab and/or spout will break off within the next 6 weeks. Another issue is that once you engage the thumb-tab, that breaks the seal of the screw-on lid, so you can't pour coffee without a good 1/2oz or so leaking down the pot onto your counter or floor...
