This is a great coffee brewer with no skill required. Approved by a coffee snob.

Agree. However, you should only brew enough coffee as you can enjoy as a time, nothing more and nothing less.

I'm a coffee snob and prefer glass carafes. I never leave the coffee on the hot plate; I brew just enough to consume in the morning. Otherwise I'll immediately pour into a thermal carafe (one that works better than the Bonavita one). Also, glass is easy to clean and I enjoy watching the coffee drip... :)

SaeulfReally good advice. Have you ever tried Cafiza for cleaning out your thermal carafe? Kind of expensive for a cleaning powder but we use it a lot in the shop. They market it for espresso machines but we use it for all of our pour over equipment and our large batch brewer. Just soaks for a bit and removes all of the coffee and leaves everything shiny and clean.

NotaDrSounds useful. I'll have to keep that in mind.

The thermal carafe is harder to clean, if that matters to anyone. (The neck is pretty narrow, and it actually traps liquid; you'd need a baster or towel to get the last bit of liquid out of the bottom.)
