Designed to deliver a precise, neutral sound ideal for studio monitoring, the Brainwavz HM5 headphones are adaptable and comfortable enough for everyday use. The thick ear pads and the firm clamp of the headband help isolate sound, great for listening in crowded work environments Read More
I am one of the original owners of these(I was a pre-release written/video reviewer) and will state these are a steal at the current drop price...actually they are a steal at their original price honestly.
My reviews of this are everywhere (look for dragon2knight or Michael Livote), but I no longer have the video up, youtube copyright crap killed it.
I love the even, well done signature of these so much, I use them in my studio ( a pro studio in NY) as my main choice. There are better, no doubt, but not for this money. Some of the best to hit this price point in years IMHO. You like neutral to all other signature's, this is your bargain set to get, period.
These are $89.99, XPT100 is on for $69.95 ... is my math broken?

ZimtronReally? I just did a search, nowhere near that price...and the drop is for $74.99 or it doesn't drop, so please look at the item your bashing before you bash them, eh?
The mistake here would be to buy the HM5 headphones for $75. Buy the open-back versions here for $50:

They sound significantly better (clearer, better soundstage and imaging) than the closed HM5 and include really soft velour pads. Only one left in stock!
Brainwavz should really make a metal headband for these like Fischer used to. The headband is a known point of failure for these headphones, and it would be nice to be able to eliminate that.
I know that it is silly to compare closed backs with open ones but still. I can't decide whether to get shp9500 or this pair( they are at exactly same price for me) or any other pair of cans at similar price points. Any ideas, advices observations are welcome.
I bought it from newegg. I have a couple of other headphones like senn HD58x, ATH Pro700, AKG 240 MK2. So not incline to spend so much. Agreed with cheffy to save and buy smth better!
Shp9500s is just smth I would like to have. For their value and neutral presentation. =)
I used to own a pair of these. As others have mentioned, excellent neutral sound and nice isolation (I was using them in a sometimes loud, open office and these helped a lot). Only reason I stopped using them was the clamping - wearing them for 6+ hours a day got fatiguing (could be I just have a wide head?). Great deal.
