Xercliffair warning from a guy whos had a couple of these, they sound amazing for the price, better than anything else ive tried at twice the price even, but the build quality on them is trash and you can expect the plastic arms on either side of each can to crack after a year of use.

XerclifYes. The design is based off of a set of $350 Fischer audio headphones. For a fraction of that price you'd really be missing out skipping this drop. Extremely closed with minuscule sound leak, netural sound signature that accepts eq or bass boost very nicely for you to tailor your own sound signature ( Hello schiit Loki 2), plus you get an extra set of HM5 pads to improve the comfort of your old cans.

XerclifI've had mine since 2014, used regularly from 2014-2016, less regular now that I am living away from home. The condition is still the same as it was - except my right earcup pops out a lot easier than it used to. Not a big deal, goes to show that everything on this pair of headphones can be easily swapped and replaced.

XerclifNo, the Brainwavz HM5s are nothing special. I owned a pair a few years ago and thought they had a hazy sound... fine for casual listening, I suppose, but certainly not worthy of a 'monitor' headphone. I thought its build quality was just ok... nothing to write home about, but I see others had issues. I will say that their overall comfort - including the famous, separately available ear-pads - is to be commended.
The best thing about this drop is that two pairs of Brainwavz earpads are included. Purchased separately, they'd cost $45. So I suppose you're getting the headphones themselves for just an additional $35.
Having said that, my advice would be to choose another headphone for monitoring (or casual listening). The Senal SMH-1200 is lighter, fold-able, comes with comfortable stock pads, and sounds substantially better. The Audio-Technica ATH-M40X would also be a excellent alternative... just be sure to replace their stock pads with Brainwavz leather pads (non-angled).
