PedroGabrielDon't believe that. It sounds great with HD6xx. I am using an ElectroVoice tube amp though. I haven't tried the stock tube yet. But it sounds amazing with the ElectroVoice. The first song I tried was my test song, Public Enemy - Prophets of Rage (Power Version). It sounded incredible even before full burn in. There's like a tamborine they play as one of the instruments in the song and it sounds like you can literally hear the rattly mechanism on the tamborine. You'd have to hear it to know what I mean. I never noticed that before for real. I don't exaggerate when it comes to audio either. I've bought audio devices that were sub par and I can tell when the audio has gotten better or worse. Definitely pick this up even with a HD6xx. Remember your audio source is important as well. I'm using an ASUS STX II sound card with 3 Burson V5 op amps in it as the DAC for my music files on my PC. That sound card is pretty audiophile and Burson op amps are well known. Anyway if you have decent sound processing, this little amp will make it that much better. Peace.
VarmintbabyThe review isn't saying that the 6XX doesn't sound good with tube amps in general. It is saying that it doesn't sound good with the Ocean... not all tube amps are the same, so the fact that you are using an ElectroVoice tube amp easily explains the difference... please read and watch the reviews thoroughly prior to writing nonsense. Thank you.
zep483No worries guys, I appreciate all the input. Anyway, the review recommended the loxjie p20 and I can say I don't regret it, got it used but just like new for the same price i'd get the bravo, so that was a great deal, both my hd6xx and nightowls are singing like never before (especially after adding in balanced ins and outs and some soviet tubes :E)
zep483I did read what was said and I'm not watching reviews because unless it's from a trusted source, they tend to be biased and full of fallacies. I made a point when I included my comment that I have not tried the stock tube amp yet. There's nothing wrong with the Bravo itself, it's possibly a cheap stock tube they give you with it which for the price they are offering at is understandable. My point to Pedro was that he can buy this amp and it CAN sound amazing with the HD6xx. How you didn't understand that I don't know. Take care.
VarmintbabyI understood you, you're just faulty logic, not the review. Buy an ocean, listen and then make a judgement, don't assume based on another amp... that makes ZERO sense, and wasn't even about what was being talked about. Find a tube that "sounds good" in the ocean, then report back... There are plenty of good tube amps for the 6xx, the ocean with its stock tube isn't one of them... find a stock tube that works, and that could be valuable information, otherwise...
jesse2bcnAbsolutely!!!
All part of the fun, of owning a tube amp... finding that one perfect tube to mate with a certain can... When you find that "perfect" match, it's enlightening. ;)
