Guys, just wondering--should the actual tube of this amp light up?

pappaHi-FiShould it light up because of the red light indicating the device is working and it should also illuminate the bulb, or should the bulb light up on its own? I have been told tube amp bulbs do not light up. Bad info?

TemporarilyidleThe bulb doesn't light up. I found the red light way too bright in dark rooms, so I ended up opening the amp up (really easy to do with a philips head) and actually bending the solder on red light backwards towards the bulb. Now, when you switch off the lights, the bulb has a cool slight red glow and the port through which the red light use to stick out through just has a soft red light coming out.
