@Wodan You are correct sir, D2 is a Tool Steel. References to Stainless have been corrected. Thanks for catching that.

DuaneWeikumDoes that mean the the Caliber’s 3-inch satin-finished blade can rust since it is not stainless?

dtw898D2 has high chromium count and as such should offer very good resistance to rust. Depending on the heat treatment and the finish some knives require very little maintenance to avoid rusting. Generally speaking polished D2 blades shouldn't rust much unless you're swirling the knife in fish blood.

sprk1Thanks sprk1 for the info. How 'bout stain? Since this is a satin blade, will it stain after some time? There will be time I forget to wipe the knife after cutting a lemon, will it stain the satin blade after a day or two?

dtw898It will stain if not looked after in the appropriate timespan. If you cut a lemon with proper D2 and forget to wipe you will most probably find some staining when you return to it a day or two later. That being said I've never seen a case in which actual rust takes over quality D2 unless completely left un-maintained and most of the time any rust and staining comes out easily with some tuffcloth.
