This knife is a bargain and BB has a reputation for high quality mid tech knives. I like the fact that the design of this knife especially the blade has more character than most of the "block" looking knifes in this category. BB calls it a recurve tanto--very sweet. Since I am not a metallurgist I may not speak with authority as to the technical aspects of D2. However, the consensus seems to be that D2 or tool steel is used for its price point, durability and corrosion resistance and may be difficult to sharpen when not done correctly but opinions vary on the last point. The link below is from a relatively recent article that provides a great overview of D2. http://www.knivesillustrated.com/does-d2-tool-steel-make-a-good-knife/ According to the BB website this knife was a limited run which makes this drop all the more special. It will be next to impossible to find any Brous Blade and certainly not this one at a lower price point. Very excited about adding this to the collection.

BlackElkFWIW I bought a Brous knife from bladehq and it had major quality issues.

BlackElkThat was a rather terse response and I intended no offense. Thanks for pointing out the issue you had and I hope you were able to sort it out with blade HQ. Perhaps you can expand further on your experience and if was resolved?
