This is my first purchase of a monocular scope, and I am rather disappointed with this particular model. I wanted a monocular scope for the occasional bird or dragonfly. The magnification of 7 is OK, but not great. My biggest gripes are that the field of vision is too small at 18. and also that the focus range is extremely hard to get just right. But of course I am comparing this to my 10 X 25 binoculars, which are not so great for birding, but excellent for watching a grizzly or bighorn sheep from 1/2 mile away. I will look at some other monoculars to see if there's something like a lightweight 8 X 25-30. It would of course be a bit heavier, but it would be more functional for my needs. I like the price I paid for the Echo, but if I can find another one that works better for me, I will gift this one to a friend.
