Ed, how does the width and length compare to the Buday Winter last? RogerP over at AAAC and I share the same size in the same shoes and boots we have. He and I are a 9 Carmina Rain, Forest, and Robert, and 42.5 in the Vass New Peter. He needed an 8.5 in a derby Winter last and still finds it roomy. You have suggested I go with the 9 in this Frakno bal, do you still feel that way?
I am also ordering for my son who is an 8.5D in J&M shoes, and takes a 7.5 in Meermin Hiro last shoes. However in Meermin Hiro boots he prefers the snugness of a 7. In their Elton last shoes he goes down to a 7, and I go from a 9 to an 8.5. That last is a chisel toe as opposed to the rounder toe Hiro, so maybe that adds to the length. Even though Meermin suggests the same size in both, we have both found the need to size down a half size.
While I find an AE 10D snug, the E is too wide in the 5 last, so I go with 10D and it works in after a few wears. So I consider myself a D/e in all my AEs, where my son is a true D. I have been vacillating between the 6.5 and the 7 for him, and after hearing from Roger about his need to go down to an8.5 in the Winter last derby, I am concerned about whether I'm better off with an 8.5 or 9 in the Frakno bal. if it is shorter than the winter, then the 9 should do. Is this more aD or E width? Thanks
MomsdocThats a lot of info, let me process it and get back to you. When you say the winter last, which shoe specifically do you mean? Their "winter" last shoes can be anything from the Budapester to the Zala.
